Today, January 29, 2026, marks 999 days until the start of voting in Saskatchewan’s next provincial general election (based on the legislated last day of voting being October 30, 2028).
In our office, we marked this occasion with a general staff meeting and a potluck lunch all geared around the theme “999 Days until Trusted Delivery.” We even unveiled a clock counting down the days, hours, and minutes until voting begins, serving as a daily reminder of our responsibility and commitment to deliver a trusted voting experience to the province.
I’m looking forward to working with you over the coming 999 days to get ready!
This week, my office, released a new strategic plan that will guide us through the administration of the province’s next general election and beyond. Trusted Elections. Trusted Democracy. Achieving Electoral Integrity and Access through Innovation covers the years 2026 to 2029 and places trust at the centre of everything we do.
In fact, maintaining the trust of our stakeholders is so integral to our success that we have made it our strategic imperative, our ultimate aim and that which we will measure ourselves against:
Strategic Imperative
Our success is measured by the trust of our stakeholders – voters, political parties and candidates, and our partners.
As a representative of one of the province’s registered political parties, preserving and maintaining your trust is integral to our plans for the next four years. Following the administration of our next election, my assessment team will once again reach out to you to gather feedback on what went well, what didn’t, and critically, whether you trusted Elections Saskatchewan’s administration of the event.
I will be mailing a hard copy of our strategic plan directly to you, but you can also find the report by clicking here.
Expense limits for candidates and registered political parties are updated every year in accordance with changes to the consumer price index (CPI).
CPI data was recently released and updated expense limits have been posted on our website – here. These limits will be in effect through the 2026 calendar year, including for any potential by-elections. You can find these figures at the link above or by going to the “Candidates and Parties” section of our website, then clicking on “Political Finance Legislation” and then “Expenditures and Election Expense Limits.”
We are currently conducting maintenance in order to upgrade the ELMS application to current infrastructure standards. We anticipate the application to be available by Thursday, February 5 for entry to the 2025 Fiscal Period Return.
Aaron Thompson will notify all party users by email once the application is available for use. Audited Fiscal Period Returns are due to be filed with Elections Saskatchewan by end of day Thursday, April 30.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Aaron Thompson at aaron.thompson@elections.sk.ca.
