May 1, 2026 – May has been officially recognized by the Province of Saskatchewan as Voter Registration Month. It’s a reminder for all registered voters to check or update their voter information, and for future first-time voters to add their name to the provincial voters list.

All eligible voters can check, update, or add their information using this online portal. To vote in any future event, including the 2028 Provincial General Election, you must be:

  • A Canadian citizen.
  • 18 years of age or older as of the last day of voting
  • Ordinarily resident in Saskatchewan.

“We are excited to raise awareness of voter registration once again during the month of May, says Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer of Saskatchewan. “Saskatchewan residents will see some social media advertising that promotes the important of voter registration and its essential contribution to the conduct of trusted electoral events and a healthy democracy.”

“There are benefits to being on the registered voters list ahead of an election. Come event time, each registered voter will receive a personalized voter information card. This card details where and when to vote. Being on the voters list prior before an election is underway makes the voting process easier and faster at your voting place.”

Throughout May:

  • All eligible voters currently not on the voters list will be encouraged to register.
  • All voters already registered will be reminded to check or update their information with Elections Saskatchewan, such as a name change or new address.
  • Future voters who will be 18 years of age by October 30, 2028, can register now.
  • All registered voters will be encouraged to provide a cell phone number or email address to receive their voter information card electronically.

Voters not on the list can still vote in-person in an election, but they first must register at the voting place, which adds time to their voting experience.

According to The Legislative Assembly Act, 2007, provincial elections occur every four years on the last Monday in October, unless delayed by a federal election call. Saskatchewan’s 31st General Election is scheduled for October 30, 2028.

Elections Saskatchewan (ESK) is the province’s nonpartisan election management body and an independent office of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan.
