Elections Saskatchewan hosts course on trusted elections

March 4, 2026 – Elections Saskatchewan today hosted Trusted Elections: Strategies for Building and Maintaining Public Confidence. This virtual course was organized by Elections Saskatchewan as part of ongoing Canadian Election Official Training (CEOT) through the Secretariat for Electoral Coordination in Canada.

A total of 64 participants from 10 election management bodies across Canada joined the presentation and discussion on topics including:

  • Current level of confidence from voters in their provincial Election Management Bodies (EMBs);
  • Practical steps EMBs can take to maintain and strengthen public trust;
  • Public communications and managing mis/disinformation;
  • The importance of partnerships and stakeholder engagement;
  • How election assessment can maintain public confidence in election administration; and
  • A case study on the fundamental challenges to public confidence in election administration in the United States, including insights on domestic observation.

Dr. Michael Boda, Saskatchewan’s Chief Electoral Officer, opened the course with a presentation on evolving challenges of maintaining public trust in elections before introducing the presenters:

  • Lynn Wong, Director of Communications, Elections Ontario
  • Greg Flood, Manager of Media and Outreach, Elections Ontario
  • John Marshall, Coordinator, Strategic Initiatives and Projects, Elections Saskatchewan
  • Jonathan Stonestreet, Director of the Democracy Program, The Carter Center
