November 12, 2025 – Elections Saskatchewan today tabled A Report on the Thirtieth General Election, Volume II, Administrative Review and Volume IV, Chief Electoral Officer’s Recommendations for Legislative Reform.

These are the second and fourth volumes to be released following the October 2024 provincial election. Volume I, Statement of Votes, was released in June. Volume III, Statement of Expenditures, will be released in early 2026 to ensure it captures all post-election spending.

“The two volumes released today are central to framing Elections Saskatchewan’s ongoing work to expand access for voters across the province while safeguarding the integrity of our election system,” says Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer of Saskatchewan.

Volume II offers an evaluation of Elections Saskatchewan’s administration of the 2024 provincial election, conducted by social scientists in collaboration with the Chief Electoral Officer through surveys, stakeholder focus groups, and in-person observations. In turn, Volume IV provides legislators with the Chief Electoral Officer’s recommendations for improving future elections through legislative change.

Both volumes can be found here: www.elections.sk.ca/reports-data/reports-publications/

Highlights from Volume II include:

  • The voters list contained 98 per cent of all eligible voters
  • 98.9 per cent of polling places met all desired accessibility criteria
  • 96.6 per cent of voters said they were satisfied with their voting experience

Key recommendations from Volume IV are:

  • Continued use of innovations seen in 2024, such as Voting Week; widespread use of electronic poll books in many constituencies; centralized, simplified Vote by Mail, etc.
  • Limited implementation of telephone voting for unique, unavoidable issues that create a barrier to voting
  • Changes to political finance rules to streamline candidate financial return reviews and improve reporting related to constituency associations

According to The Legislative Assembly Act, 2007, provincial elections occur every four years on the last Monday in October, unless there is a delay caused by a federal election call. Therefore, Saskatchewan’s 31st General Election is set to occur on October 30, 2028.
